Nothing like a snow storm to appreciate a bit of warmth and green. We’ve been back from a trip to Florida for several weeks, and for some reason, I’ve not been compelled to post these images until today. I understand now with the dreamy wet snow twirling outside my window.
One of the highlights of the trip was the profusion of beautiful textures and green. So much of it is architectural, with beautiful lines and structure that I am not accustomed to here in the Northeast. The best day was spent in the Mangroves. I went fishing there (with a guide and my father-in-law) and was so happy to feel the warmth, the salty/brackish water and the waxy leaves of the mangroves. I can’t remember the fish we caught so much as I can the graceful curves of the mangrove roots, and the hundreds of mega-birds there – like Great Blue Herons, Ibis, Roseate Spoonbills and Bald Eagles, and the narrow channels that we explored while fishing.
We also spent some time at a zoo that had been a botanical garden, where I spotted a “Sausage Tree.” I included the sign to prove it…I could not resist including it among these.
