Every year, I prune the large Concord Grape vine on the side of the barn. As much as I love the grapes, the pruned vine is the real source of joy for me. I love its texture, and the way it is the ideal medium for sculpting with. I’ve been making wreaths all my life, but these creations are a new direction for me. True, the wreath form is the initial framework for the spheres, what evolves there after is spontaneous and exuberant. I’ll be documenting these forms through the seasons to see how they evolve and what character they assume in each month.
